Event Summary:
HR practitioners gather to top up their knowledge, share successes and lessons-learned, and take-away practical tips, tools and techniques.  Participants are encouraged to bring real-life HR-related scenarios, challenges/questions and/or best-practices that they would like to share and/or see discussed by the group. The Roundtable Leader will guide the dialogue and encourage participation.
Topic: Virtual Orientation and Onboarding
Covid-19 has catapulted people processes of many HR departments into a new world of technology – and faster than we ever could have imagined. Join Taylor Zerbin, CPHR, HR Business Consultant and Eugenie Wong, New Graduate Member and HR Coordinator for an overview of the changes BC Transit has made to their new employee orientation and onboarding processes, and find out if they’re ever turning back! 
Roundtable Facilitator: Taylor Zerbin, CPHR,  has eight years of experience working in the Project Management, Engineering and Public Transportation industries. Taylor is currently a Human Resources Business Consultant with BC Transit. She manages a variety of client groups across the organization and provides support in labour relations, strategic HR, recruitment and many other aspect of HR in a fast paced environment. Taylor has a thoughtful and pragmatic approach to working on solutions with her clients. 
Roundtable Facilitator: Eugenie Wong, is a recent graduate of the  Bachelor of Business Administration, Human Resource Management and Leadership Major program at Camosun College and currently an HR Coordinator at BC Transit. She supports the Operations, Human Resources and Asset Management Divisions in her role, as well as leading the administrative side of the employee recognition program. Eugenie is an up-and-coming HR professional who is eager to learn in new skills and abilities from her fellow peers. Her thoughtful and creative approach to problem solving gives her a unique point of view.
Roundtable Lead: Meredith Campbell-Jess, Manager of Professional and Continuing Studies at Royal Roads University, has a background in learning and training, with over 18 years experience in both private and public sectors. She holds a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Human Resources Management from RRU and brings the natural ability to view problems through the eyes of the employee. In her current role, her portfolio includes the for-credit graduate certificate programs and the open enrollment suite of programs. She is continuously planning for improvement and looking for opportunities that foster positive change in organizations. Striving to find innovative possibilities, she loves helping people find opportunities for success and growth.
Roundtable Lead: Jackie Connelly, CPHR, HR Consultant – Organizational Development at BC Transit, began her career in human resources at Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE) and is currently a member of the human resources team at BC Transit. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from UBC and a Post Degree Diploma in Business Administration, Human Resource Management & Leadership Option from Camosun College. Jackie has previously been responsible for transit operator recruitment, launching a new, organization-wide employee recognition program and providing HR generalist advice to a variety of client groups including asset management, IT and finance. In her current role, she plays a key role in managing change by leading and supporting the development and delivery of HR strategies, frameworks, policies and procedures that support and empower people to do their best work.
