Program Summary:
This introductory course explores dimensions of diversity and increases knowledge and understanding of the cultural factors underlying client and counsellor behaviour and interventions. Participants will explore their own cultural values and belief systems and learn how these systems affect their relationship and interventions with clients. Participants will also increase their understanding of cultural transition, racial identity and sexual orientation identity development processes, and examine the role of race and culture on communication in the counselling context. Emphasis will be placed on integration of knowledge with personal awareness.
