The HR Sharing Circle Community of Practice is open to members and non-members who are an HR professional currently working in people operations in Indigenous communities. If you are working as an HR Professional in an Indigenous community, we would love to have you join us. This CoP is not for those who want to learn more about Indigenous ways, or hope to work within an Indigenous community.

Joan Kleinstueber
Joan Kleinsteuber is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) and a Certified Coach with over 20 years experience assisting with the many aspects of managing effective workplaces for small to mid-size businesses and Indigenous Band Administrations and communities in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Alberta. Joan has held various HR roles working in private, public, Indigenous Nations, not-for-profit, union, and non-union organizations in a variety of industries. She also works as an instructor in the certified Indigenous Educators Program.

Joan is passionate about helping leaders and teams create a healthy environment in the workplace and understands that planning for growth, cultivating positive workplace cultures, training, and developing leaders and employees, improves employee health and productivity.

Joan provides HR services that contribute to successfully balancing the objectives of the organization and the needs of the employees. She loves to give back to her profession and communities by helping and volunteering when she can. 
 
 
 
Tanya Thomas
Tanya Thomas, CPHR is the Senior Manager, HR with the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (IRC).  Prior to joining IRC, Tanya was the HR Consulting Manager for the Indigenous Services team with MNP and before that, served as the Director of Human Resources at Williams Lake First Nation (WLFN), leading the human development of a growing organization, and empowering the WLFN leadership team and employee groups to rethink coaching and peer support.

Originally from Mumbai, India, Tanya holds a diverse educational background, including a Bachelor's in International Hospitality Management, a Post Diploma in Human Resources Management from India, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Thompson Rivers University, and as of November 2021, Tanya is a CPHR designation holder. Her passion for service has been a driving force throughout her career, including her work with the Borgen Project to eradicate poverty in developing nations and her MBA project, "Taking the Confusion out of the Fusion", focused on encouraging intercultural communication in university settings. Tanya is committed to creating a supportive and inclusive workplace, earning the respect and admiration of her colleagues and peers.

Through the HR Sharing Circle, Tanya is dedicated to making a positive impact and creating a safe space for all the HR professionals in the Indigenous workplaces to come together to share, learn, and lean on each other.
