Disability is the minority group that any of us can find ourselves in in our lifetime, yet rarely do we stop to think about the accessibility of our world. Not being truly accessible means not being truly inclusive, diverse, and equitable. Join us for a panel discussion on how we, as HR professionals, can rethink the world we live and work in and look to create opportunities to remove barriers, physical and otherwise, for not only those with disabilities but the general population.

Headshot-Greg-ConnerGuest Facilitator: Elizabeth Langtry, CPHR Candidate, is currently a Program Assistant with March of Dimes Canada. She graduated from Camosun College at the start of the pandemic with her Bachelors of Business Administration with a Human Resource Management & Leadership Major. She has over three years of experience in program administration and non-profits. Elizabeth has found her passion in the area of IDEA and comes at it from lived experience in the disability and accessibility realm. She is dedicated to advocacy around disability and accessibility in both the workplace and community; and is always looking for ways to continue the conversation with others.

Guest Facilitator: Adam Bishop, CPHR Candidate, leads BC Transit's Strategic Talent Team. He is passionate about matching people at all levels to jobs that get them fired up to come into work every day. Holding a degree in HR & Labour Relations, he has over 10 years of experience in large unionized organizations with deep experience in Recruitment & Retention, Labour & Employee Relations, Disability Case Management, OHS & Violence Prevention. Fun fact, prior to working in HR he had his own sports radio show in Edmonton!

Roundtable Host: Meredith Campbell-Jess, Manager of Professional and Continuing Studies at Royal Roads University, has a background in learning and training, with over 18 years experience in both private and public sectors. She holds a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Human Resources Management from RRU and brings the natural ability to view problems through the eyes of the employee. In her current role, her portfolio includes the for-credit graduate certificate programs and the open enrollment suite of programs. She is continuously planning for improvement and looking for opportunities that foster positive change in organizations. Striving to find innovative possibilities, she loves helping people find opportunities for success and growth.

Roundtable Host: Jackie Connelly (she/her), CPHR, People & Strategy Partner at Doctors of BC has been recognized and awarded by her peers as an integrity-driven human resources (HR) professional. She began her career in HR in 2012 at Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE), then advised leaders and managed both change and the development and delivery of HR strategy in a multi-union environment at BC Transit, and is now in a People & Strategy leadership role at Doctors of BC. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from UBC and a Post Degree Diploma in Business Administration, Human Resource Management & Leadership from Camosun College. Whether through equity, diversity and inclusion, employee engagement, recognition, policy or change management, she believes in being a champion of change and enhancing employee experience as the foundation to organizational success.
