COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE - Construction Industry

Date: November 24, 2022
Location: Online

 Credits: 1.5
Nice "meeting" you today and thank you for organizing the roundtable. It is sooooooooo nice to hear from others in similar situations. I feel like I got more out of that 90 minutes than all of the other webinars I've participated in combined. HR in construction is just different. - Eric, May 2021 participant
NOTE:  This event is open to members and non-members who are currently working in people operations in the construction industry.  To register for the event, please email Allison Greaves, CPHR Candidate
Meet with your industry connections for the construction industry to have an open roundtable discussion about what's going on for you currently - share stories, successes and challenges in a safe community virtual gathering.

Studies have shown that candidates seek out organizations that are diverse and inclusive and many employees have indicated they would leave their current employer for a more inclusive culture. Many HR professionals have been tasked with leading the EDI strategy, or, are struggling to gain buy-in from the top. In industries like construction that tend to be homogenous and traditional, the challenge is greater. Whether you are already underway or just getting started, this session will provide the fundamental considerations necessary in outlining an effective EDI Strategy. Come prepared to discuss with colleagues by enabling your video and audio.
Guest Facilitator: Serena Morphy, CPHR, SHRM, is the Principal and Founder of Awaken HR, a Vancouver-based firm specializing in inclusion, engagement, and culture. Awaken HR supports your EDI journey by providing, strategy development and execution, training, current state audits and recommendations, policy development and HR project and operational support. Prior to starting Awaken HR, Serena was an HR leader in heavy industrial organizations including mining, forestry, and large infrastructure construction. Today, Serena continues to support clients in construction, engineering and architecture.
