Roundtables are exclusively available and free for CPHR BC & Yukon Members. These events are peer-to-peer sharing and members play an active role in sharing knowledge and building community. Confidentiality is requested amongst the members present. Roundtables are not recorded for later viewing.
The Career Advancement Network (CAN) for Newcomers helps to empower members who moved to Canada in the last 5 years, are emerging or in job transition and are actively seeking employment or interested in career development topics. Participants have an opportunity to discuss career goals and develop practical skills to enhance their job search effort.
Conducting an Effective Job SearchThis roundtable will walk participants through how to effectively search for a job utilizing an online search engine.
Attendees will walk away with how to use keywords for their job search, how to follow companies of interest, receive notifications and filter through job postings that best fit their search.
Roundtable Hosts:
Ana Nolasco, CHPR, moved to Canada in 2018 carrying over 10+ years of a successful HR career in Brazil. Due to her passion for diversity & inclusion, Ana has worked with March of Dimes Canada in delivering the WorkBC employment program where she has the opportunity to support persons with diversabilities in achieving sustainable and meaningful work. She will share what strategies have worked for her and tips on how to speed up your adaptation to the Canadian job market.
Eli Yanga, CPHR, is an HR professional who immigrated to Canada from the Philippines last June 2020. He is currently a Change Advisor at the BC Liquor Distribution Branch. He is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion and he is also an active volunteer with immigrant social services, coaching and helping immigrants like himself navigate the Canadian job market.
