Program Details:
Developing intercultural fluency is a critical objective for HR departments today. The increased diversity of our staff, teams and clients requires the HR teams to provide a sustained focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Moreover, employers are responding to national calls to action through the Truth and Reconciliation Commission which tasks employers to provide skills-based training in intercultural competency, conflict resolution, human rights, and antiracism. Organizations look to their HR team, and HR Leaders like you, to provide leadership in the areas of intercultural fluency and inclusion.

This two-day workshop will provide a foundation for HR professionals to create inclusive cultures by considering their own intercultural fluency, developing skills for creating inclusive environments, unpacking bias, and applying a model for inclusive excellence for HR Professionals.

The workshop provides the opportunity to complete the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) and participate in an individual coaching session. The IDI is a developmental assessment which supports individuals to develop their ability to effectively engage diversity.
In this workshop, we will:
  • Explore the opportunity for Human Resources in expanding diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Distinguish our own experience of culture and intersectionality by applying an intercultural fluency model
  • Grow our intercultural fluency through exploring intercultural frameworks and layers of diversity
  • Examine unconscious bias, intergroup stereotypes and behaviours
  • Assess your HR Practice through an EDI lens and identify a personal action plan
Who should attend:
HR professionals who are tasked to support and lead diversity, equity and inclusion in their organizations.
