HR Community Showcase: Interfor & BCIT - Developing Leaders through Collaboration
How Industry and Educational Institutions can Work Together to Achieve a Value-Added Outcome.

Come join us at this HR Community Showcase to hear how top lumber-producing companies collaborated in partnership with BCIT to build an industry-specific educational program to help develop our leaders of tomorrow.

Interfor is one of the world's largest lumber producers, with over 3,000 employees across North America. But Interfor and other industry leaders recognized a gap in skilled forestry and manufacturing workers. To find a solution, Interfor, Canfor, Tolko, and West Fraser met with the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT).  
BCIT is one of British Columbia’s largest post-secondary institution that has been educating students since 1964.  Today they welcome over 48,000 students annually into their programs and courses and employs over 2,400 faculty and staff.
Together, the forest industry and BCIT created a new lumber manufacturing program that partners leadership skills with sawmill operation skills.  To build the program, the companies tapped into the knowledge of trusted industry subject matter experts who have the skill and experience to provide up-to-date and relevant technical information.
Please join us to learn more about this groundbreaking and creative collaboration across industry and BCIT to develop skilled workers. Hear from Interfor on how they partnered with other companies to help build the leaders of the future, and from BCIT on how this model could be implemented in your own industry.

Driving/Parking – If you are driving the closest parking lost to SE02 is lots 5 and 7. Visitors can park in those locations after 4:30 PM. The current fee posted on the parking webpage is $5.25 daily. Please refer to the campus map for where lots 5 and 7 are.

Member/non-member rate differences will apply for substitutions. A full refund, less a $25 processing fee, will be issued for cancellations submitted at least one week prior to an event or workshop. No refunds will be issued for registration fees of $25 or less.
