Topic: Discriminatory Action Complaints
The number of discriminatory action complaints (DACs) received by WorkSafeBC appear to be trending upwards.
This presentation will discuss what employer actions are considered to be ‘discriminatory’ under the British Columbia Workers Compensation Act, the process followed by WorkSafe when receiving such a complaint from a worker, why defending such a complaint can be tricky for employers, what remedies WorkSafe has the authority to order, and employer best practices for avoiding such claims.
