Take Action Now (TAN) - 2019 HR Conference Follow Up

Date: April 10, 2019
Location: Club KWENCH

CPD Hours: 1.0
When we return to work after a conference or learning event, all inspired and excited to put new ideas into practice, it can be easy to fall into the trap of catching up on emails and before you know it the notes you took and vowed to put into action are somewhere in your inbox! We're looking for two types of members to attend a special event.

  1. Those that attend the Conference in Vancouver – you're the ones that met many wonderful HR professionals and talked to some great people. You listened to excellent speakers who inspired you and made you remember why you got into this business in the first place. You took lots of notes and vowed to take action on several ideas.
  2. Those that were unable to attend but want to hear some highlights and learnings from those that did.

Join Deborah Pike, CPHR and Shelley Carlson, CPHR who will facilitate a session to take a good look at the ideas that inspired you and connect with others on their learnings and participate in a fun activity to get those ideas ready for action. Conference attendance highly recommended but not mandatory for this session. Please bring a journal and pen.

Shelley Carlson, CPHR
, has over 20 years of diverse management and human resource experience that spans small businesses and large organizations. Since 2003, Shelley has filled a variety of roles for Seastar Chemicals, including her current role as Human Resources Manager. During this time, Shelley has built the Human Resource function from the ground-up and gained several years experience in international HR, specifically in Canada, the US and Europe.  Shelley enjoys attending networking events with CPHR BC &Yukon.

Deborah Pike, CPHR has served on the CPHR Advisory Council Vancouver Island since 2013, first as Membership Lead and then as Chair. As she completes her role as outgoing Chair in 2019, Deb feels a sense of satisfaction being part of the growth that the Island membership has seen over the past year.  She is currently developing a project that combines her skills as a facilitator/educator with her passion for wine. Grateful for the supportive and vibrant connections she has made in the CPHR BC & Yukon community, Deb is looking forward to another year of learning and networking with colleagues and friends.
