Event Summary:
HR practitioners gather to top up their knowledge, share successes and lessons-learned, and take-away practical tips, tools and techniques.  Participants are encouraged to bring real-life HR-related scenarios, challenges/questions and/or best-practices that they would like to share and/or see discussed by the group. The Roundtable Leader will guide the dialogue and encourage participation.

Topic:  Artificial Intelligence in the Workplace
Do you wonder how the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) will impact your workplace, or what the future of AI could mean to HR? These are questions we as HR professionals should be paying attention to, and will get the opportunity to explore with Christina Gerow, Senior HR Business Partner at Workday and esteemed guest speaker Peter Scott. Come prepared to expand your knowledge of Artificial Intelligence as this event promises a lively discussion on the future of AI in the workplace.
Roundtable Facilitator:  Peter Scott, Human Cusp - Born in the United Kingdom, Peter received a master's degree in Computer Science from Cambridge University and went to NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California, helping advance our exploration of the solar system. Since 1999 he has worked independently, continuing to serve JPL but also writing and speaking most recently including a TEDx talk. He also works in the "soft" fields of human development. Bridging these disparate worlds positions him to envisage a delicate solution to the existential threats facing humanity arising from exponential technology progress.

Roundtable Lead:  Sharde Long, currently works at the Victoria Women's Transition House as their HR Manager. She brings with her valuable work and volunteer experience in the non-profit industry and within Local Government. As an HR Professional Sharde is passionate about community leadership, providing HR/LR support to staff, training and development and building a positive workplace culture. Sharde is an Alumnus of UVIC with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Sciences, with a Major in Psychology and will soon complete her Post Degree Diploma in Human Resources Management and Leadership from Camosun College. In her spare time Sharde enjoys building connection in the community by volunteering and networking; she is also an avid long distance cyclist and enjoys being in the woods with her dog, a red bone coonhound named Elly.
