Men and women experience leadership differently because they see the world differently. What does this mean for men in terms of how men demonstrate effective leadership? Join David Cory and Kim Cairns, leadership development specialists, as they provide an introduction to the Heart & Science of Leadership for Men. Participants will have an opportunity to:

  • share their experience of gender socialization
  • explore the concept of authenticity
  • be critical of how power and control is used in organizations and what they can do to create a more equitable workplace

In this presentation, you will learn:
  • how gender socialization has influenced you
  • about your own authenticity and how authenticity is critical to effective leadership
  • be critical of how power and control is used in organizations and what you can do to create a more equitable workplace

Participants will take away:
  • a critique of their own gender socialization
  • their own EITC Authenticity Framework
  • their own EITC Power & Control Index

Who should attend:

This course will be of benefit to anyone who is currently a leader or who aspires to be a leader in an organization.

About the presenters:
David Cory, B.Ed., M.A.,, a leadership development coach, trainer, and consultant known for his expertise in applying the concept of emotional intelligence to individual and organizational performance improvement. In the course of his work, David has been an invited guest of the Sultan of Brunei, worked under armed guard in Nigeria, been kicked out of a restricted area in Saudi Arabia, chased by an elephant in Zambia, and sang for royalty in Malaysia. David’s company completed the design of a leadership course based on emotional intelligence to be delivered through a train-the-trainer model for the government of Botswana and David was the closing Key Note speaker at the Asia HRD Congress in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in July 2016 for the third time.
 
 
Kim Cairns, B.A., CPCC, is a leadership development coach, trainer, and consultant who specializes in working with executives using the EQ-I 2.0 and EQ360 assessments for emotional intelligence. Kim is known for his many years in senior leadership positions in a wide variety of public serving organizations. Kim has worked with the Greater Victoria YM-YWCA; Boys and Girls Club Services of Greater Victoria; the City of Calgary Social Services; the Calgary YMCA and Boys and Girls Club Services of Calgary; and with young offenders with the City of Calgary social services. Kim is effective in establishing a connection and form a solid one-one working relationship with all clients and is also comfortable in the classroom, having trained with David on courses around the world. Most recently, Kim has been a key member of the team on the EITC project in Botswana with the government of the Republic of Botswana and was also chased by an elephant in Zambia with David Cory.
