HR & Legal - Building Relationships that Last: A Fireside Chat with Sara Forte & TJ Schmaltz
 
Join us for up close and personal discussion with two senior level professionals who have worked on both sides of the HR/Legal equation. Sara & TJ are educated, experienced lawyers and designated CPHRs.
 
This fireside chat will explore common interactions between the two professions; sharing experiences and advice on ways to communicate effectively, leverage off each other’s skillsets, and optimize teamwork in a way that builds positive, lasting relationships.
 
This is sure to be a fantastic and lively discussion!
 
Your ticket includes: food, one drink ticket and lots of fantastic connection and learning. 

This is a small venue so seating is very limited! Members will get registration priority until Nov 9th , after that if seats are still available we will open registration to all.
 
 
Speakers:
 
Sara Forte, CPHR, Employment Lawyer, Founder Forte Law

Sara is an employment lawyer and has practiced exclusively in the areas of employment/labour law, and workplace human rights since 2004. She helps solve work-related legal problems from, hiring to firing, and everything in between. Sara grew up in Langley BC. After attending law school in Ontario and working and living in Vancouver for a few years, her roots brought her back home to South Surrey to raise her family. After 12 years of working for leading firms in Vancouver, in November 2016, she took the leap and opened her own firm near her home in Surrey. She loves serving clients in her own community and she especially loves the 2km commute. She is a member of CPHR BC & Yukon and holds her CPHR designation.
 
 
Terrence J. (TJ) Schmaltz, FCPHR, Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Communications, Westminster Savings 
 
As Senior Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Communications and Chief Human Resources Officer, TJ has executive oversight for organizational culture and employee engagement, recruitment and workforce planning, training and leadership development, compensation and benefits, labour relations, and corporate and internal communications. Prior to joining Westminster Savings in June 2017, TJ was the Vice President, Human Resources and CHRO for Impark, where he was responsible for overseeing all human resource functions in Canada and the US. TJ, holds a Bachelor of Common Law (LLB) and a Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) from McGill University, and a Bachelor of Social Science – Political Science and History from the University of Ottawa. TJ is past chair of the board of the Chartered Professionals in Human Resources of BC and the Yukon, and serves as a member of the Vancouver Aquarium board of directors.

A full refund, less a $25 processing fee, will be issued for cancellations submitted at least one week prior to an event or workshop. No refunds will be issued for registration of $25.00 or less. Attendee substitutions are permitted; however, member/non-member rate differences will apply. Please submit cancellation or substitution e-mail registration@cphrbc.ca.
 
Please note that this policy does not apply to conferences, exams or no-charge registrations. CPHR exam fees are non-refundable if registration is canceled after the registration deadline.
