As a senior HR practitioner with over 7 years of experience, she is accountable for establishing effective employee relations, talent review, succession planning & total rewards. Awarded with HRD’s Canada’s Rising Star for her significant impact on growth, she has been a driving force in Canada’s HR industry as a professional, educator and mentor.

 

Kara Biles, CPHR
Kara is Director, Corporate Human Resources and Employee Experience at Canfor. She is an accomplished human resources leader, speaker, facilitator, & business partner with progressive experience in unionized & non-unionized environments in private, public, & non-profit sectors. Her passion is diagnosing complex challenges & providing talent solutions for today, & the future, by building strong HR foundations and facilitating monumental shifts in culture through communication, programming, & leadership.

 

TJ Schmaltz, FCPHR
 As Chief People & Legal Officer, TJ has executive oversight for People Experience, Communications, Governance, Corporate support and legal affairs for Prospera, one of Canada’s largest credit unions. He has worked in progressively more senior roles including Chief HR Officer for Impark, and Director of Labour & Employee Relations with BC Liquor Stores. TJ serves as the Chair of the Board for CPHR Canada & is on the board for OceanWise, a global ocean conservation organization.
